Lyd's birthday was around the corner and the Loners Club + Shu wanted to give her a huge surprise. It took us a while to decide on what to give her.
Liting, Gina, Joyce and I met at Funan to shop for the IT stuff we were to get; cute/pink mouse and ipod/laptop skins. All those useful for Lyd when she goes to Uni. Funan was the most boring place ever to shop! If you weren't there to shop for any IT specific thing, you'll bore yourself to death there. We went in to the Apple shop to try find nice ipod skins but we had trouble figuring out the exact model Lyd uses so I had to call her on pretence that I wanted to get an ipod. She didn't answer and I called Shawna and found out that she was gonna get an iphone and Mac book! We didn't get any skins in the end cause all weren't nice. Just as we were hunting for the toilet, we found a shop that were having a buy 1 get 1 free laptop skin promotion! We dashed in and got 2 pretty ones. Both with pink shades needless to say.
Liting had to go for a meeting and the rest of us couldn't stay at Funan a minute longer, left and headed to town with the idea of posting the stuff to Lyd and signing off as Secret Admirer. I know that Taka and Lucky Plaza's post office are open on weekends but had no idea what time they close. In the end both closed at 4pm while we reached only at 5pm. Plan A failed. Moving on to Plan B; karaoke! 3 hours was clearly not enough for us. We rushed to choose the songs and tried to sing them all before the time was up.
I was suppose to meet the arcade gang for movie at 9 so i wondered around town. Finally it was time for You Don't Mess With the Zohan! Met Fran, Meng and Nick at the ticket queue and cause they were so far in the line I didn't bother squeezing in to join them. Fran was happy to see me and so she attempted to hug me across the barrier. BUT! The Indian security guard suddenly whacked her hand and went ooi! We were all shocked for a split second and then burst out laughing. That was the joke of the night. Maybe funnier than the movie itself. HAHA!
We, minus Glenn and Malone, had no idea what the movie was about but decided to watch it anyway. Glenn explained it was about some terrorist catching guy who wanted to be a hairstylist. haha. Turns out, the show was freaking hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing at all the accents and jokes. Nick and Glenn was falling off their seats while Fran couldn't stop giggling. Malone on the other hand was falling asleep. HAHA. Apparently he didn't get more than 2 hours of sleep the night before.
Love Arcade Gang outings. They never fail to make my day (:
the nice toilet shot. minus the unglamness around us
my betest buds (: <3>

It's Fran Chye!
Meng and I wanted to surprise Fran by picking her up at the airport today. Meng even made that card to wave at the arrival hall.
But as usual, certain things ONLY happen to us.
Well you see, Fran's flight was to land at 710pm and we were still on the train at 745pm. I had just told Meng earlier "no worries, Fran would probably only come out at about 8pm so we still can catch her there."
Next thing I know, I got a call from Meng saying, "Kaiyi we've to get off at the next stop. Now." (we were on the same train but it was too crowded for us to find each other) I was so confused. Then Meng said "Fran's already in the car. On her way for dinner at East Coast."
I was like HUH!!! Imagine our shock! haha.
In the end we bused and cabbed to East Coast from Bedok to join Fran and her family for a nice seafood dinner.
Quotes of the day:
Yup Fran, things haven't changed since you've gone.

While they walked in 2 teenagers were looking at the durians they were carrying. One said "WOAH! Where did you get so many durians from!" and his friend replied saying "BUY LA!" HAHA.
Actually the durians they were carrying were not bought but picked from the forest next to our condo. There are 3 durian trees in the forest next to our condo and plenty of jackfruit trees behind. Being so close to nature is what I love about my condo and don't like the thought of shifting to elsewhere even though walking out to the road itself takes at least 5 mins.
My dad and brother spread newspaper on the ground and pryed the prickly fruit open in hope of some durian to eat while I sat and watch in excitement. But as my dad opened the 6th durian, we couldn't help but laugh. The whole journey back, there wasn't a slightest whiff of durian. That just shows the durians aren't ripe. They picked 8 durians that weren't ripe! HAHAHA. Every durian my dad opened, he could cut the seeds into half. That's how unripe the durians are. Though disappointed with no durian to eat, my dad and brother had a lot of fun trekking in the forest. Some father and son bonding. The funniest part was my brother saying to my dad while they were in the forest "It's ok. I can handle. You go in front and I'll follow....EH DAD! Don't walk so far! I cannot see you!" HAHAHAHA.
That night we celebrated Fathers' Day with a home cooked meal prepared my my brother and myself. Are you getting hungry looking at this picture? HAHA.

Gina and I didn't really want to attend cause we were bums and wanted to just laze around in the house. When we finally met on the train at Clementi, it was already 5:45pm while the show was to start at 6pm! HAHA. The funniest thing was that I had thought DBS Auditorium was the DBS Arts Theatre near UE Square. So as we walked towards the bus stop to catch a bus there, I suddenly had a gut feeling we were heading to the wrong place. Thank goodness I figured that out earlier. Can you imagine us rushing all the way down only to find out that it's the wrong place! HAHA. So when you are lost and rushing for time, what do you do? CAB! We arrived just in time for the start of the competition.
The show started with Jarelle Ng ( i hope i spelt his name right) a boy around 10 yrs old dancing and singing. He's so super cute and talented. The whole auditorium was gawking at his cuteness and his dance moves.
Next up was the real competition where the Top 16 belted out duets and fast solos. I must say they're really good. Some duets are so touching that might make you tear. haha.
I call them the drama couple cause they had a lot of drama actions during practices which actually worked by catching audiences' attention
His sister and her friend were his backup dancers. How nice of them.
she reminded me of Restless's "car accident" performance.
He put in a lot of effort in this outfit with nerdy glasses and all..
Agent J!
And her supporters all the way from Malaysia.
Fang Lao Shi with the 4 mums
Kim and her students. So cute!
Don't they look pro?
Kim with her fellow Campus Superstar contestant
Jarelle came on stage again this time to do a slow song. He sang really really well. But throughout the song, his voice cracked a bit here and there. Gina and I thought he was doing that to put more emotions into the song since Fang Lao Shi always says improvisation and expression. As the song was coming to the end, the cracks in his voice became more obvious and when he thanked the audience, he had those hiccups like those you have after you cried. Turns out, the youngest performer of the day was crying while he sang. He was too stage fright this time since he was a small kid, alone on such a big stage. The other time he had back dancers so the stage wasn't so intimidating to him. Although he was crying, he managed to finish the song properly. Such a brave kid.
He's so brave!
Superband contestant, Er Zuo Zu made a special guest apperance. The girl reminds me a lot of Kelly Poon. They're good but I didn't understand what they were singing.
Top 6 in the front row.
PJ can sing perfectly in chinese english and japanese!
I liked his rendition of Feeling Good.
The duration of the competition was too long for me but I took away valuable lessons. I learnt that to stand on a stage and perform, a lot of energy is needed or else you'll lose the attention of your audience. When that happens, it'll reflect by their murmuring and constanst movement. That will cause you to become more nervous and worried which eventually result in your terribly poor performance. Intepretation of the song, expression and improvisation are also as important. Singing songs that people have heard before by original artists in the same way will just be plain boring. Now we know why Fang Lao Shi always stressed on those few points.
After the competition we walked over to Lau Par Sat and had late dinner. Being ever so hungry I ordered 20 sticks of satay, 1 popiah and one plate of carrot cake while Gina ate her Kway Chap. You might have guesses, I didn't manage to finish all the food. HAHA. I was so super full!
We were suppose to meet Gina's friends at Chevrons to karaoke but they were leaving in an hour just as we arrived at Jurong East. So we decided not to join them anymore. Bt Batok had no more buses for me to hop on home so I had to take the train back to Clementi. As the train approached the station, the plasma screen flashed a message - DO NOT BOARD TRAIN. I thought the train was not for service and I should just wait for the next train. Turns out, the last train was at 1145pm!! Stranded at Jurong East and not willing to cab home with the crazy surcharge, I called home to ask if anyone could pick me up. At times like these I wished I drove/can drive.

I've been really confused/upset/undecisive/moody lately. Cause this whole choosing the uni and going overseas thing is killing me.
University of Queensland has offered me entry to Bachelor of Business but the majors they offer are really limited. It's quite far from any sort of business managment so there's really no point in taking it.
USyd on the other hand offered me quite a queer degree, Bachelor of Arts and Sciences. Basically it's a degree where u major in Arts or Science and get to 'half' major in another field (you don't get to finish the whole major cause there's not enough time.. or i think that's what the lady said). Again not much use for business management.
Looking at that, it's either I go into UQ and do well for yr 1 and get a transfer to commerce in yr 2. That would then be some sort of gamble as it really depends on how well I do and whether the Uni will allow it. Or i just stay in Singapore and do RMIT in SIM, which isn't a very regconised degree. Well after I spoke to IDP, they helped me clear up my mind and narrow down my options to 2 new ones.
1 - Monash 8mths Diploma, then straight to yr 2 of Uni
2 - Trinity foundation crash course for 8 mths, then start at Uni yr 1 in Melbourne U
Monash obviously means shorter time span and Melbourne U definitely means more regconised degree since it's more well known.
Now that I've got rid of the rush to settle Uni Acceptance by end June, I've to decide asap between Monash and Trinity. But one thing's for sure. I'm leaving for Australia. :( / :)
